The film from Spain is a dark comedy, that Jonathan Holland of Variety says is a “well crafted and thoughtful (film). Successfully (…) blending black comedy, lyricism and social critique.” 
Amador is about Marcela, a young immigrant with financial troubles, who finds a summer job looking after Amador, a bed-ridden elderly man whose family is away. She thinks her problems are solved, but Amador dies shortly thereafter, putting Marcela in a predicament. His death leaves her jobless, something she can’t afford to let happen… Faced with a difficult moral dilemma, Marcela will prove that death can’t always stop life. Amador is 112 minutes long and is in Spanish with English subtitles. Adult content

McCall Film Society Spring Series will start on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 pm with the film “No Man Iceland”,  a French documentary about Damien and Delphine, a couple from France, who  tandem bicycle across Iceland, with their 11 month old daughter in a trailer.  The couple have been traveling the world on a tandem for the last two and a half year. Along the way they have been filming their journey and adding a child to their journey.

In addition we will show a ten minute short, “It’s My Turn” from Turkey about boys playing a rhyming game to decide whose turn it is to go to the movies.

Synopsis

Named after the local soccer stadium in the Southern Israeli town of Beer Sheba, VASERMIL tells the story of three teenagers from separate marginalized communities, who pin their hopes on soccer as a way out. Shlomi, Adiel and Dima are recruited by the coach of the local soccer team to take part in the Beersheba Youth Championship, held on Independence Day at the Vasermil Stadium. Success at the tournament means getting noticed by the scouts of the local soccer empire, Hapoel Beersheba. In order to win, Shlomi, Adiel and Dima, each with their own set of adversities, will have to learn to play as a team and overcome their differences.

Synopsis
